Estate cleanout
Clearing a parent's house is the hardest cleanout there is. The crew works room by room at your pace, sets aside anything that looks like a keepsake or a document, and clears the rest so the house can be sold or handed back.
What we take
- Every room of furniture, clothing, kitchenware and linens
- Boxes, papers and books
- Appliances and electronics
- Garage, shed and yard contents
- Carpet and curtains if the house is being refreshed
What we cannot take
- Hazardous materials, medical sharps and medication: your crew can tell you the local take-back site
- Firearms and ammunition
Not sure about an item? Ask when you book. Your local crew will tell you before the day.
How estate cleanout is priced
Estate cleanouts are priced by truck loads. A typical three-bedroom house is two to four full truck loads over one or two days. You get the price per load before the crew starts, and a running count as they go, so there is no surprise at the end.
| Load | Roughly | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single item | One sofa, one fridge or one mattress | $99–$149 |
| 1/8 truck | About a pickup-truck bed: a few pieces of furniture | $179–$249 |
| 1/4 truck | A small room, or a spare bedroom's furniture | $299–$379 |
| 1/2 truck | A one-car garage, or a small move-out | $449–$529 |
| 3/4 truck | A full basement or a two-car garage | $549–$649 |
| Full truck | A whole-house cleanout or estate clear-out | $649–$799 |
Prices are set by each local GoneDay location. The crew looks at the load and confirms the price before they start. Read the full pricing guide.
Before we arrive
- Walk the house once and tag what stays with painter's tape, or put it all in one room with the door shut.
- Pull out documents, photos, jewellery and anything with a title. The crew sets aside anything that looks personal, but your own pass is better.
- Tell us if a realtor or buyer has a deadline. Two-day jobs can be split around it.
Where it goes
Furniture, clothing and kitchenware in good condition are offered to local charities where one accepts them. Metal and appliances go to recyclers. What is left goes to the transfer station.
Good to know in Texas
Out-of-state families often handle a Texas estate from a distance. Your local crew can send photos of each room before and after, and the house can be done while you are not there once a key and payment are arranged.
Estate cleanout questions
Can you clear a whole house?
Yes. A three-bedroom house usually takes one or two days with a crew of two or three.
Do you sort out valuables?
The crew sets aside documents, photos, jewellery and anything that looks personal, in one place for you. We still ask you to do your own pass first.
Can you do it while I am out of state?
Yes, once a key or lockbox code and payment are arranged with your local crew. They send photos before and after each room.
Do you buy or consign anything?
No. If there are antiques or collectables worth selling, do that first; the crew can work around items waiting for a buyer.
How is a cleanout priced?
By full truck loads at a flat price per load. You approve the first load's price before anything leaves, and the crew tells you the count as they go.
