Appliance removal
Old appliances are heavy and most of them cannot go in the regular trash. The crew brings a dolly and straps, carries the appliance out without scratching the floor, and takes it where it is allowed to go.
What we take
- Refrigerators, freezers and wine coolers
- Washers, dryers and stacked units
- Stoves, ovens, ranges and range hoods
- Dishwashers and microwaves
- Water heaters, including tankless units
- Window air conditioners and dehumidifiers
What we cannot take
- Appliances still connected to gas or water: have them disconnected first
- Commercial walk-in coolers

How appliance removal is priced
A single appliance is one single-item price. Two or three appliances together are about a quarter truck. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners contain refrigerant that must be recovered by a certified technician before scrapping, so they carry a small disposal fee in some areas; where they do, it is already in your price.
| Load | Roughly | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single item | One sofa, one fridge or one mattress | $99–$149 |
| 1/8 truck | About a pickup-truck bed: a few pieces of furniture | $179–$249 |
| 1/4 truck | A small room, or a spare bedroom's furniture | $299–$379 |
| 1/2 truck | A one-car garage, or a small move-out | $449–$529 |
| 3/4 truck | A full basement or a two-car garage | $549–$649 |
| Full truck | A whole-house cleanout or estate clear-out | $649–$799 |
Prices are set by each local GoneDay location. The crew looks at the load and confirms the price before they start. Read the full pricing guide.
Before we arrive
- Unplug the appliance and have gas or water lines disconnected by someone qualified. The crew does not disconnect utilities.
- Empty and defrost fridges and freezers the night before.
- Pull the appliance a few inches from the wall if you can, so the crew can get straps behind it.
Where it goes
Appliances are mostly steel, so they go to a scrap metal recycler after any refrigerant is recovered under federal rules. Working appliances in good condition are offered to local resale stores where one accepts them.
Good to know in Texas
Texas summers are hard on refrigerators and air conditioners, so many of our pickups are a failed unit the day a new one arrives. Book the pickup for the same day as your delivery and the crew can take the old one once the new one is in.
Appliance removal questions
Can you remove a refrigerator?
Yes. Empty and unplug it first. Refrigerant is recovered by a certified technician before the fridge is scrapped, as federal rules require, and that step is in your price.
Do you disconnect washers, dryers or stoves?
No. For your safety the crew only moves appliances that are already unplugged and disconnected from water and gas. Any handyman or plumber can disconnect them.
Will you take a water heater?
Yes, once it is drained and disconnected. Tankless units too.
Can you take an appliance from the basement or upstairs?
Yes. Stairs are part of the job. Tell us where it sits when you book.
Do you buy working appliances?
No, but a working appliance in good condition can be set aside for a local resale store where one near you accepts it. Ask your crew.
